Chapter 2
Dr. Muenster's Quest

by Enygma

After the hustle and bustle of being given their awards, after the crowds had left and the Tournament was finally over, Tatopa and May strolled outside behind the building, in a kind of Parking Lot, which was empty at the moment.
"So, do you think he's actually gonna show?" said May, looking slightly skeptical. Tatopa cracked his knuckle.
"Heh, he'd better, or else he'll wish he did." Tatopa said, in more of a joking manner than a serious one. He had no reason to believe he would make a break for it, especially since they found a deal he seemed to like just fine. And, sure enough, Mozzy came around the side of the building moments later.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Mozzy said to them in a jolly voice. "Ready to go for a little trip?"
"And where exactly would we be going?" said Tatopa, keeping his voice in a tone that reminds Mozzy of who would have won their fight.
"Ah, we just gotta head over to West City, that's where Dr. Munster is. He should be able to fix whatever needs fixin', but he might be a little cranky, since I've kinda owed him this money for a couple months, but he'll probably just be glad he got it back. Well, most of it, anyway." explained Mozzy.
"Alright then, let's get to it." said Tatopa, still relieved they found someone who can help.
"Right, what are we waiting for?" May said cheerfully.
"Ok then, lemme just get my Car, here." Mozzy reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small Capsule-like object, with a Symbol resembling an abstract C on it. He clicked the small botton on the top of it, then gave it a little toss out into the open space near them. Once this Capsule hit the ground, it exploded, making a cloud of a purply-pink smoke serround the area where it landed.
Tatopa guarded his face with his arm, even though the smoke didn't spread very far. "Hey, what do you think your doing? What was that about?" he said angrily.
"Relax, it's just a Capsule, Geez, where have you two been? Everybody uses Capsules these days." said Mozzy, looking rather surprised by their shock. After another few seconds, the smoke cleared, and instead of being a big open area in a parking lot, there was a snazzy Hover Car! "See? What did I tell you, it's fine."
Tatopa and May both looked amazed, and both felt that island life really left them out of the loop on modern technology. All the same, they followed Mozzy inside the Car.

Once they were settled inside the Car, an electronic voice said "Please state your Name and Destination."
"Oh, you know it's me, Mozzy, and just take me and my pals here to Munster's Lab in West City, would ya?" said Mozzy in his usual partially arrogent, partially comedic voice.
"Very well, Mr. Mozzy... Estimated Time of Arrival, 30 Minutes." said the electronic voice. At that, the Car started to float into the air, gaining altitude, then taking off to the South West at an Impressive speed.
"Well, you heard the Car, we should be there in 30 Minutes." said Mozzy, relaxing a bit in his chair. "So, why not tell me a little about you two? Like for starters, how the heck are you so dang powerful?"
Tatopa looked out the window as the city rushing past him turned to a vast scene filled with mountains and forests. "It's a long story, one I don't really want to go into too much detail about..." Tatopa pulled out his Dagger, and examined the strange symbols on the blade.
May simply looked at her father, knowing that this subject often made him either real quiet, or really furious, and she rathered quiet right now.
"Oh c'mon, you can't leave me completely in the dark, how about you just tell me what you're after, you two seem like you're looking for something." said Mozzy, his child-like curiousity getting the better of him.
May could see Tatopa's blood starting to boil, she knew this couldn't be good. "Um, Dad..." she muttered quietly, but it seemed to go unheard.
"Everyone's got a story, I see it all the time at big Tourneys. I'm a good listener, plus I wouldn't mind knowing what your secret it. So tell me, do you have some special training method, or is your strength mainly passed down from Parents? Your Daughter certainly seems strong, so was your Dad a good fighter, too?" Mozzy continued to ramble on.
However, at the mention of his father, Tatopa broke his limit, his blood felt like lava. He tightly grasped the Dagger in his hand, then firmly stabbed it right into the window of his side of the Car, shattering the glass and filling the Car with the fast moving wind, making Mozzy jump out of his seat, hit his head on the ceiling of the Car, then land back in his seat. May, startled, back away in her seat, putting as much distance as possible between her and her Dad. "Never..." Tatopa began, giving off the sense of a Volcano moments before eruption. "Never, mention my father around me again..."

The remainder of the trip was very quiet, as the next time someone spoke, was the computer in the Car saying "Destination reached." They all got out of the Car, and found themselves in the middle of another big city, this time in front of a very strange building. The base of it was extremely thin, not being much more than 20 feet around, and the tall white poll of a building eventually expanded into a large oval shape, which looked like it only barely balanced atop this tall poll. At the bottom of this building, there was an electronic sliding door, which Mozzy started to walk towards.
"Well, this is it, good ol' Munster's Lab. I've always wondered why he built it like he did, but then again, I s'pose it matches his personality." said Mozzy, reaching the door and pressing a few bottons, then having his hand print scanned on a small console near the door.
Tatopa and May followed Mozzy into the doors, which opened and led into an Elevator. Once inside this, Mozzy had to press more bottons, and now have his eye scanned by another machine attached to the Elevator wall. Once that finished, they started to elevate.
"Ya, Munster's got a lot of Security here, all sorts of things like this. That reminds me of this one time, oh you're gonna love this story, I kinda trashed his Lab this one time after a Party, and well let's just say he wasn't too happy with me, so he threw me out. Now, I just thought he was kicking me out for a night or two, giving him some time to cool off, but it turns out he told his machines here not to let me in! So here I was when the 20 Zenny I had in my wallet ran out, trying to use a combination of Duct Tape and Super Glue to climb all the way to the first Window, and ask him real nice from there. Well, I didn't really make it quite that far, you know this place looks a lot taller when you're climbing it from the outside, so then I had to..." At this point, Tatopa started to ignore Mozzy's rambling, but May still listened to his story. Soon, the Elevator came to a hault, and Tatopa snapped back to reality.
"Wow, didn't that hurt?" May asked Mozzy, who just finished his story.
"Oh boy did it ever." Mozzy massaged his side lightly, a look of reminiscent pain on his face. "Hurts just thinking about it..."
The Elevator doors opened, and it now led them into a small hallway, with another door at the end. Mozzy went over to it and pressed what appeared to be some sort of doorbell.
"Hey bro, it's me, Mozzy!" he said. There was a fairly extended pause, then he continued. "Aw c'mon, I've got the money I owe ya!"
After another few moments, the door started to make many odd clicking noises, then started to open.
Standing on the other side of the door was a slightly older person, most likely in his 40's, who's hair, unlike Mozzy's spikey blonde hair, was almost static in appearance and sticking out on all directions., and was wearing a white lab coat, with a name tag that said 'Dr. Munster, President of Capsule Corporation.' After opening the door, he took another step forward, then seemed to notice everyone else.
"Mozzy, who are they? Oh please don't tell me you've been gambling again! I tell you, I will NOT bail you out of whatever mess you've gotten yourself into this time, you're on your own!" said Dr. Munster. He spoke much faster than Mozzy, and sounded distinctly annoyed.
"Oh no, no, no, you've got it all wrong, bro! I haven't been gambling... Well, ok I guess technically I have, but that's not what these two are here for! Well, ok, I guess it somewhat is," Mozzy saw Munster rolls his eyes and sigh. "but it's not like that! They're not after money or anything, they just need something fixed and, well, you being the Genius that you are, I knew you could do it!" he added quickly, trying to butter him up.
Munster gave him another annoyed look from behind his rounded glasses. "So, in other words, you couldn't give them anymore money, so you promised them that I'd just use up some of my valuable time programming someone's VCR?!" said an aggrevated Munster.
"Um, well... look, ok, here's 500 Zenny, it should just about cover what I owe you." said Mozzy, trying to calm Munster down.
"Mozzy... You do realize that I lent you 2,000 Zenny, right? And so you don't have to employ your limited Math skills, that's alot more than 500!" Munster responded, seeming to lose his patience.
"Ok, ok, well, atleast I'm trying. Now, will ya just hear them out? If not for me, then for... Ok well, for me then, but please." Mozzy pleaded, not even wanting to think about what Tatopa would do if he couldn't live up to his end of the bargain.
Munster rolled his eyes before closing them, clearly annoyed, yet considering it. "Alright, alright, I'll hear what they have to say."
"Oh, thanks a million, bro!" the worried look finally lifted from Mozzy's face.
"Just don't think you're off the hook, Mozzy." Munster added, with another stern look at Mozzy. Munster then led everyone inside his lab, so he could hear about what they need done.

"Well, you see Doctor, it's kinda a long story..." Tatopa began, taking a seat on a strange and uncomfortable white couch. Dr. Munster's Lab, or atleast the room they were in, appear to double as his house, because everyone was currently gathered around what must have been considered a living area, with a few of these couches in a circle, but there were all sorts of strange machines moving, gears turning, and clutter covering tables all around the room.
Munster sighed. "I don't have all day, could you give me the short version?"
"Oh, alright... Lemme see here, how can I explain this?" Tatopa scratched his head, thinking of how he could explain what he wanted done, without having to explain all the difficult details surrounding it. He took off his Back Pack, reached inside, and pulled out the device with a small screen that would fit around your right eye and ear. May also watched Tatopa interestingly, curious as to what he would say. "You see, Doctor, this is a Scouter. It's used to scan and calculate a targets, well, oh how can I put this? Their Strength." he explained.
"It calculates someone's Strength?" Munster raised one eyebrow. "How? Where's the cords to attach to the target? And where is the control pad?" he ask.
"Huh? Oh, well, I don't know exactly how it works, otherwise I wouldn't need your help, but it doesn't need to be attached to anyone, it can read it from great distances, it can even reach around the planet if needed. And all the controls are done with this little botton on the side, you just either push it in the center, or to one side to set your command."
There was a very unigue change in Munster now, he didn't look annoyed and aggravated, instead a look of intrigue filled his face. "Might I... Take a look at that thing?" he asked.
"Sure, that's what he were hoping for!" Tatopa handed Dr. Munster the Scouter.
Munster examined it from every angle, looked through the visor, even knocked on the metal to test sturdiness. "Hmm... Very fascinating. It must use quite a large sum of energy, I wonder what poer source it runs on? Hmmm, I'll be interested to see how this thing works, but what exactly is the problem with it? It seems to be in good condition."
"Well, turn it on..." Tatopa said, miming how to attach it securely around your ear. Munster does so, and pushes the botton on it once.
In only a matter of a few moments, Munster understood where the problem was, because a slew of strange symbols started to fill the visor, none of it making any sense. Munster had a puzzled look on his face. "This... This is of some other language? B-but how is that possible, there are very few other languages used, and they're only used by small villages mostly, nothing that could come up with anything like this! And I've done study into most of those languages as well, and none of them are even remotely similar to this!" Munster seemed to be confused and excited at the same time. "Where on Earth could you have gotten such a thing?"
May and Tatopa exchanged uneasy looks. "We, well... It's like I said, it's a long story, one I don't feel like recalling at the moment." Tatopa said.
"Oh ya, and trust me, you don't wanna ask this guy too many questions he don't wanna answer!" said Mozzy, who had amazingly kept quiet for a few moments while Munster and tatopa were talking. "Oh man the last time I tried, scared the tar outta me! He shattered the window of my Car! My wonderful, neon blue convertible hover Car!"
Munster gave Mozzy a piercing look, immediately shutting him up, then returned almost as instantly to his curious look. "Well, I'm not going to force you to tell a story you choose not to, however I would at some point like to learn more about the origin of this 'Scouter' of yours, but that can wait for another day. But regardless, this would take a great deal of work to decode a Language that I have no past knowledge of whatsoever, not even anything else as referance." Munster took off the Scouter, and his eyes travelled from it back to tatopa.
"I... I have some referance to that language. Well, atleast, I have something written in it, that I know the translation of." said tatopa, seeming to have a hard time letting the words come out. He got out his Dagger once more, and Mozzy flinched after seeing it, still thinking about his Car. "This Dagger... It was that same writing on it, except I remember the translation. I think this might be of some help to you."
"Well, it certainly would help, might I take a look?" Munster asked, and Tatopa nodded his head, and handed the Dagger carefully to him. Munster looked at the symbols, which certainly appeared to be the same type as those on the Scouter. "What's it say, exactly?"
"It says 'Never Lose Hope', written in that language." said Tatopa, still sounding like it was difficult saying this.
"I see... Well then, might I hold onto this, to help me translate?" asked Munster, examining the letters on the blade carefully.
"Well, I... I'd rather keep it with me..." said Tatopa.
"Hmm, very well, then." Munster pulls a piece of paper out from under a pile of other papers on a nearby desk, and starts copying down the symbols on the Dagger's blade, exactly as they are on it. "Here you are, this should be all I need." he handed Tatopa back his Dagger.
Wait just a second..." Mozzy started. "You mean you're actually gonna help them? Just like that? Why don't you ever help me when I ask you for help?"
"Because Mozzy, you're always asking either for Zenny, a place to throw a party, or to use, and eventually break, one of my creations!" Munster shot angrily at Mozzy. "And besides, I never said I was going to do all this for free."
"Um, Mr. Munster, sir, we don't have much Zenny to offer you..." May said, now a little worried of if this was going to work out.
"Oh now, now, I'm not in need of Zenny. I'm looking for something much more valuable, and I think you can help me get it. So, what do you say? I'll help you get what you need, if you do the same for me?" said Munster, looking over at the two of them from just above the rim of his glasses.
May didn't feel comfortable about this, but all the same, Tatopa responded for her. "Alright, whatever you need us to do, we will." he said.
a smirk grew on the good Doctors face. "Excellent! Now then, here's what I need of you..." Munster walked over to a safe in the wall, went through a series of security measures like the ones it takes to get in here, and pulled out a large, shiny silver briefcase. He brought it over to them, and opened it. Inside, there were 2 vibrate orange spheres, one with 4 Red Stars inside it, the other with only 1. The inside of the briefcase seemed to be fitted for these spheres, and there were 5 empty places, where you would imagine more would go.
"Wh-what are those?" asked tatopa, having never seen anything like these before.
"Dragon Balls." Munster replied, an air of respect for these objects in his voice.

"These Dragon Balls are possibly the most valuable items in the world." Munster told May, Tatopa and Mozzy, all looked both intrigued and bewildered. Mozzy looked more bewildered than intrigued, however. "There are Seven of them in total, each one with a differant number of Stars inside it. They were created hundreds of years ago, by an unknown force. You see, these simple gems, when all are brought together, can act something like a Key to another realm, one where a great Dragon rests. This Dragon will be awakened when the holder of the Seven Dragon Balls summons it, and before it returns to it's land, grants that person whatever it is their heart desires!"
Everyone's jaws dropped. "Y-you mean to tell me if I just collect a couple of those marbles I can have whatever I want? Why'd you never tell me about this before, Bro?" said Mozzy.
"Do you really think I'd let a dimwit like you know that I even have these, when you have trouble keeping anything to yourself?" Munster responded bitterly, as always the tone of his voice changing when he speaks to Mozzy.
"What do ya mean I have 'trouble keeping things to myself'? I can keep a secret, honest! Oh, are you still upset about that one time when you had to cancel that date because you got one nasty pimple?" said Mozzy.
Munster slaps his own forehead. "Mozzy, once again you prove me right! And you didn't have to refer to it the way that you did..."
"Hey man, I picked up the phone and she asked why you couldn't come, and you never said not to tell her... And besides, how else other than 'Zitzilla' could you describe that thing? It was a beast!" Mozzy responded, an unpleasant look on his face at that memory.
"Anyway, could you finish telling us about these Dragon Balls, Doctor?" ask Tatopa, trying to stop the bickering.
Munster sighed heavily. "Yes, sorry for getting sidetracked." He gave another cold look at Mozzy. "Anyway, yes, the Dragon grants that one Wish, and then returns to his realm. And the Dragon Balls, they spread out across the globe, and become stone, completely unusable for 1 year afterwards. Many hundreds of years ago, there was a great War over control of these Balls, and eventually the two sides destroyed each other, leaving very little knowledge of these Dragon Balls behind. Today, only a handful of people even know that these still exist, and that is why I believe I will be able to get them, since no one really knows about them. But, I am a busy man, and am also currently working on the first major Space Project, and I really don't want to put either of those on hold, so this is where you come in. I want you to follow up on some leads of mine, and in the end help me track down the remaining 5 Dragon Balls!" Dr. Munster looked at them all, waiting to see how they respond.
"Wow, that sounds kinda like a Fairy Tale to me." said May, who looked a little disbelieving.
"May..." Tatopa whispered to her. "It doesn't matter if this is true or all just a Legend, it can get us what we need!"
"I guess..." May responded.
"Alright Doc, we'll take the job!" said Tatopa, now looking back to Munster.
"Excellent!" said Munster. "Now, I have a contact in Central Capitol with information regarding the Dragon Balls. He's asked for a meeting, but I need to work on my Space Project, so I'm sending you two instead. Oh and as you you, Mozzy... You still owe me 1,500 Zenny, and I expect you to pay it back."
"Hey, wait a sec, I got an idea! Why don't I go with them to help pay ya back?" said Mozzy.
"Mozzy, do you really think I'm going to trust you with something as important as gathering the Dragon Balls?! You must be crazy! Although I already knew that." Munster sighed once more.
"Aw c'mon! Look, this could be my chance to show you I'm not just some big blundering idiot, you just have to give me a chance! I promise I won't let ya down!" Mozzy pleaded.
Munster walked over behind another one of his tables, staring out of a large window on the side of his lab. "Ok fine, you can go with them. But Mozzy, if you mess this up too, you're going to owe me big!"
"Gotcha Bro, I'm your Man, totally 100 percent Mr. Reliable here!" Mozzy puffed out his chest. Munster sighed again, wondering what he agreed to.
"Well then, we better get to work!" Tatopa said.
"Right. Use this Capsule Ship to fly there." Munster handed Tatopa a Capsule. "Just use the Voice Activated Auto-Pilot, and it'll take you straight to Central Capitol."
"Right, we're on it!" said Tatopa, griping the Capsule, a look of determination on his face. Munster walked back over to the window.
"Oh and by the way... You might want to stay alert, because if anyone else is searching for the Dragon Balls and finds out you are too, well... Let's just say they won't be too 'nice' to you. Good luck." Munster added with a slight smirk on his face.
