I know there are MANY of us out there who are very excited about the upcoming Dragonball live action movie Dragonball: Evolution, set to come out in March of 09 in Japan (April 8th in North America), so I'll try to put together some links to information that may be of interest to our viewers here.

Dragonball the Movie will be a live action story based on the popular anime, Dragonball. From what I've read, Akira Toriyama is one of the screenwriters, Justin Chatwin will be starring as Goku and James Marsters as Lord Piccolo. It follows Goku's adventures in trying to gather the Dragonballs before Lord Piccolo can.

The cast is as follows:

Goku - Justin Chatwin (Tom Cruise's son in War of the Worlds '05)

Bulma - Emmy Rossum (Jennifer Ramsey in Poseidon '06)

Yamcha - Joon Park (Yakuza Driver in Speed Racer '08)

Master Roshi - Chow Yun-Fat (Captain Sao Feng in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End '07)

Lord Piccolo - James Marsters (Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer '03)

Mai - Eriko Tamura (Yaeko in the series Heros '08)

Chi-Chi -Jamie Chung (Cordy Han in Days of our Lives 07)

Grandpa Gohan -Randall Duk Kim ( The Key-Maker in “The Matrix: Reloaded” '03)

I read that they are mostly shooting at several locations in Mexico, but also will be doing some shooting in Los Angeles. Also, 87Eleven, the stunt performance company that worked on "The Matrix" (oh man that excites me!) and "300", is working on the film, so that should be great for some of the stunts the film would no doubt have to have. And they've apparently got a budget of about $100 million, so that's encouraging too!

I know that some of us are a bit unsure if they can pull off making a Dragonball movie that will live up to what we've all come to love, but I found a fun quote from James Marsters, who plays Lord Piccolo: "When I got the role I had doubts. The more I live with it, I realize that I am going to rock this harder than I have anything in my life."

The information I have is from the Dragonball the Movie website, used with permission. I highly recommend you check it out!
