(INCOMPLETE PART) NOWHERE NEAR FINISHED, WHAT' S YOUR REACTION?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prologue:
Thanks to their efforts the earth is again, safe. Their enemies defeated,
the Z Fighters can at last sleep soundly in their beds. A time of peace
and calm from which they can enjoy that which life seldom provides these
selfless protectors A time to spend with family and friends, to watch
their children learn and grow. For once, the world seemed to be in harmony
with all things. But, as time passed things began to change as all things
do. Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and any who carry a drop of Saiyan blood cannot
resist the allure of battle, the thrill of the fight, at least, not for
long, and as fate would have it, a fight was what they were going to get.
Part 1 Begin:
It happened on a day like any other. Goku and Vegeta stepped into the
Gravity Arena designed by Bulma and her father, (a larger ground based
version of the space ship Goku used to get to the planet Namek), which
is equipped with a massive artificial gravity generator so the Z Fighters'
power levels are reduced to "manageable" levels for sparring
on earth, without decimating it. As the two titans stood facing one another
from across the vast, empty arena, moments from going head-to-head in
one of their all out weekly bouts, a sudden and intense <jolt> surged
down their spines and spread to every part of their bodies, and then faded
slowly. Their arms and legs left with a lingering "tingling "
sensation like a sleeping limb coming back to life. And they stood there,
silently, waiting until...<JOLT> The same feeling rushed through
them again, only stronger this time.
Goku: "Vegeta?!"
Vegeta: "Yes, Kakarot. I felt it too."
It quickly became clear to both of them that the undeniably familiar power
they felt, was that of a Saiyan, a powerful Saiyan. Though, as strong
as the power was, it was distant, very distant. Just then Gohan, Goten
and Trunks foolishly burst into the arena to inform their fathers of what
they'd felt and fell face first onto the cold tile, unprepared for the
immense force of twelve-hundred times earth's gravity. Vegeta: "Humph,
kids."
The Z Fighters now assembled, they began to discuss whether or not they
should seek out this power, after all it didn't necessarily feel evil.
In fact it didn't feel evil at all. A lot like Goku's really. Evil or
not, they were unable to shake off the prospect of a new opponent and
the only real question was not so much should they seek it out, but could
they. They immediately sought Bulma's advice considering the distances
involved. Bulma: "Jeez, guys. You weren't kidding when you said it
was far away." Goku: "Well how far is it?" Vegeta: "Well...!!!"
Vegeta remarks, aggravated as always. Bulma: "Hmmm... how to put
it into terms YOU two can understand." Bulma says looking irritably
towards Goku and Vegeta. Vegeta: "What the hell do you mean "YOU
two." Vegeta interrupts. Vegeta: "Kakarot's the dumb one."
Goku: "Hey, I can read." Goku responds, looking sadly towards
the floor twiddling his thumbs. Vegeta: "What good does it do being
able to read if you never read anything?
That's right Kakarot, I was the top student in my school on planet Vegeta,
before I blew it up that is...you might be stronger than me Kakarot, but
you sure AS HELL aren't smarter than me!" Ignoring their bickering
Bulma continues. Bulma: "Goku, remember your trip to old Namek in
my father's spaceship?" Goku: "Yeah, how could I forget!? That
thing was fast." Bulma: "Well, if we were to use that same ship
to get to where THIS power is, it would take about...ten thousand times
longer than that." Hearing this Goku's jaw dropped to the floor.
Goku: "Ten, tho...thousand!" Vegeta: "Darn it!" Bulma:
"If you're in such a rush why don't you just use your instant transmission
technique to get there?" Looking slightly embarrassed Goku responds.
Goku: "Actually, uh, It's just too far away. And even if I could
make it, there's no way I could get all of us there." Vegeta: "What's
the matter Kakarot, too weak." Goku gazes at the floor looking sad
again. Bulma: "Would you two give it a
rest already!" Vegeta: "Baby." Bulma: "That settles
it, if you want to get there you'll just have to wait until I can design
a faster space ship."
Bulma would never admit it, but she was as excited as they all were. Finally
she had a new project to work on. She worked tirelessly for two months,
of course Bulma completely loses track of time when she's "working,"
but for Vegeta and Goku, waiting for two months was like torture, their
imaginations running wild with anticipation. But finally, after countless
hours of tinkering in her father's largest, most sophisticated laboratory,
Bulma emerged, her clothes and hair a mess, and smudges of oil accenting
her cheeks, and a look of quiet contentment on her face. She had done
it. First to greet her upon exiting the lab surprisingly enough was Piccolo.
Piccolo: "Is it finished?" he said handing her a bottle of cold
water. Bulma: "You betcha." she said with a wide grin. Piccolo:
"I'll go tell the others."
Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo were the first to arrive at the launch dome near
the outskirts of the city. Soon thereafter Trunks and Goten arrived already
having given their farewells. Chi Chi and Bulma had long since given up
trying to keep the kids bottled up inside their rooms. As long as they
got their homework done, they were satisfied. Prior to their arrival,
Bulma had instructed Gohan how to pilot the ship, she would have been
there herself to see the launch, but her months of effort left her utterly
exhausted. They stepped into the dome and before them stood what appeared
to be an exact replica of the ship Goku used to get to old Namek, only
ten times as big! They all quickly piled into the gigantic ship, only
to lay witness to another surprise. They stood stunned, huddling over
one another, starring at the lavish interior of what would be their home
for the next ten days. They scampered about the ship, all but Vegeta and
Piccolo of course. Although the two were
impressed, they're not really the scampering type. Goten and Trunks were
already ogling over the huge TV and stacks of their favorite video games.
Goku found the refrigerator, not wasting any time, and Gohan already had
his head buried in a book he grabbed off the shelf from the onboard library.
Piccolo and Vegeta headed for the gravity training room for a little one
on one. Gohan managed to tear himself away from his book long enough to
punch the coordinates into the navigational computer and with a loud roar
from the engines, they were off.
Back on Earth, Bulma had just finished cleaning up and hopped into her
comfy bed for a well-deserved rest. As she began to doze off she could
hear the distant sound of the ship leaving Earth's atmosphere with a loud
boom. She closed her eyes and mumbled to herself. Bulma: "Uhhhhhh..."
she yawned "I hope they make it back okay." "Uhhhhh...I
hope I didn't forget anything..." Just then, as she was about to
fall asleep, she sat up in her bed with a terrified look on her face.
Bulma: "Whoops!" The ship was now well on its way towards the
unknown power, streaking across the great expanse of interstellar space.
In the control room the Comm system lit up and a video display blinked
on. It was Bulma. Gohan was there in the control room keeping an ever-vigilant
watch over the systems when he received her call. Bulma: "Gohan?"
Gohan: "Oh, hi Bulma." Bulma: "Gohan, how did the launch
go?" Gohan: "Oh, it was great, I barely felt a thing. You really
built one heck of a ship for us."
Bulma: "That's great. Oh, I was just wondering if you might check
something for me Gohan. Are you in the control room?" Gohan: "Yeah."
Bulma: "Then look just above where you entered the coordinates into
the navigational computer and you will see a green panel with some numbers.
See it?" Gohan: "Sure do." Bulma: "Great. Can you
tell me what it says?" Gohan: "Sure. It says (270.953)."
Bulma: "(270) huh?! Well, thanks Gohan, that's all I needed to know.
Have a great trip." Gohan: "Uh, okay...bye." Gohan switches
off the Comm and gazes back at the green panel. Gohan: "Hmmm...I
wonder what that was all about."
